1986 - Current Cambridge Microprocessor Systems Ltd

I first began working at Cambridge Microprocessor Systems on a work experience placement from school. Once my placement had finished I stayed on for the following summer holidays. While at University I returned each holiday for as much time as I could afford. During this time I was involved in printed circuit board assembly rack assembly, soldering, inspection and testing.

When I finished at University I was offered a position with the engineering design department. My first role was in the design of printed circuit boards, bringing this ‘in-house’ for the first time. Since then I have progressed within the engineering department to be involved with both hardware and software design. I also get involved with liaising with customers to implement specific applications.

This year I was elected to the board and now play a major role as Technical Director using my experience of having worked my way though the company.

2000 - Current Gosling Ski and Board Centre

When Harlow Ski School closed down, I visited several ski slopes in the area to find a new slope. The best slope that I found was at Gosling Sports Centre in Welwyn Garden City. OK it is about an hours drive away but I enjoy working here now. During the Winter season (October - April) I work two evenings a week, Tuesday and Friday. During the remainder of the year I work Friday evenings and am often at the slope for training sessions on a Monday evening. To book lessons, please contact the Ski and Board Centre directly.

This summer season I am planning on working towards my Artificial Ski Slope Instructors (ASSI) qualification. This will permit me to teach skiers to a more advanced standard.

1997 - 2000 Harlow Ski School

While at Harlow Ski School I trained as a Club Instructor under the English Ski Council coaching program. This allowed me to teach beginners to ski up to an intermediate standard.

Unfortunately in the summer of 2000 the ski slope suffered a land slide and due to politics within the Sports Centre the slope was closed at the end of August. Since then the Ski slope has been removed and the land sold off for housing.

One good thing that came out of my time at Harlow Ski School was that I met Wendy. On March 24th 2007 we finally got married. Pictures can be found at www.wedding.bentall.me.uk. For our honeymoon we went skiing in Chamonix - pictures also on this web site.

If anyone who knew me from any of the above would like to get into contact, please do so by sending an e-mail through to ian@bentall.me,uk
